Tour guide Laura Serafin

Laura Serafin - Veneto tour guide and tour leader

My name is Laura Serafin, and I have been a licensed tour guide for Asolo, Treviso, and the Veneto region since 2009. I also work as a tour leader, always within Veneto.

I offer guided tours for individuals and groups, both Italian and international – mainly in English.

I was born and raised in Asolo, a charming village nestled in the hills of Treviso province. I believe it was the town’s fascinating history and timeless beauty, which I rediscover every time I guide visitors through its streets, that led me to choose this profession. Being a tour guide is an ongoing journey of discovery, research, study, and exchange – a journey that has turned into a true passion!

My studies in Padua and Ferrara

I attended the G.B. Brocchi Language High School in Bassano del Grappa, focusing on foreign languages. My interest in international affairs then led me to enroll in Political Science at the University of Padua, with the idea of working in a European institution someday.

However, my thesis focused on the economic impact of the then Territorial Tourism System of Treviso province, as I had developed a growing interest in local tourism. I defended my thesis in the fascinating Palazzo Bo, standing behind Galileo’s chair!

After attending several courses abroad and completing my studies in Padua, I pursued a Master’s degree in Cultural Event Planning and Management at the University of Ferrara’s Faculty of Humanities and Philosophy. This program allowed me to deepen my knowledge of humanities, providing me with the perfect foundation to become a tour guide.

For my master’s thesis in Iconology and Iconography, I studied the symbols of the Longobard House in Asolo, one of the first 16th-century artist residences featuring a fully sculpted façade instead of frescoes. This research greatly contributed to my professional growth.

My work experience

During my university years, I worked weekends at the Asolo Civic Museum, where I realized how much I truly enjoyed being a tour guide, as it brought me immense satisfaction. It was during this time that I became deeply passionate about the history of my hometown.

I was especially drawn to the paintings in the art gallery and the fascinating personalities who had fallen in love with Asolo, such as Caterina Cornaro, the Venetian Queen of Cyprus, the legendary actress Eleonora Duse, and the renowned English writer and explorer Freya Stark.

Shortly after, I obtained my tour guide license for Treviso province and the Venetian villas, along with tour leader certification and a qualification as a tourism animator. I also became a travel agency director.

And here I am, nearly 15 years later, still passionate about welcoming visitors as a tour guide in Asolo and many other destinations across Veneto, North-East of Italy.

I have had the opportunity to experience and explore this region through BellAsolo, an incoming tour operator I co-founded with two friends and colleagues; numerous guided tours as a tour leader for Amber Road Tours, covering Venice, Veneto, and South Tyrol; tourist information services at various Tourist Offices in the Veneto region; teaching Culture of the Territory and Tourism Techniques in training programs for tourism professionals.

I look forward to sharing my knowledge and passion with you on your next visit to Asolo and Veneto!
